Job Description

Position Title: Office Manager

Division: Contrans Flatbed Group

Location: Hagersville

Reports to (Title): Financial Controller

POSITION SCOPE:

The Office Manager, under the supervision of the Controller, performs duties as well as a variety of tasks that require planning and organization to meet deadlines and quality standards. The position requires interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with both internal and external customers and vendors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties and responsibilities may include all or some of the following. Additional duties may also be added.

 Analyze current processes and utilize current technologies to improve processes and gain efficiencies.
 Manage daily processes and procedures of accounting staff to ensure timely, relevant and accurate reporting.
 Cover accounting staff during short-term absences such as vacation and sick days.
 Train new employees and ensure training material/documentation is kept current.
 Investigate and report to the Controller any inconsistencies or improprieties.
 Assist in reconciling Balance Sheet accounts and correcting data.
 Assist with month end journal entries.
 Demonstrate appropriate understanding/working knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls, and apply them.
 Perform special projects to improve process efficiency as assigned by the Controller.
 Perform other assigned tasks and duties necessary to support the Controller.
 Manage staff of 10

QUALIFICATIONS:

 Minimum High School diploma
 Minimum 5 years experience in Accounting
 Strong in all accounting areas, such as Billing, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
 Transportation industry knowledge/experience would be an asset
Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
 Strong work ethic with a positive, can-do attitude
 Sound judgment in decision making capabilities
 Think analytically with ability to conduct research, data analysis and resolve complex problems.
 Adaptable, self-motivated, results driven and team player
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills
 Strong presence with the ability to interact with Senior Management
 Strong attention to detail
 Strong computer skills (MS Word & Excel, etc.).
 Maturity, professionalism, and high level of discretion are required
 Work independently
