Over the last couple of weeks we have had some changes happening within our divisions. For the most part your manager has already communicated these changes to you in greater detail. This communication is only a summary of the changes. If you have any questions please ask your manager or myself as we would be happy to clarify any information.
Eric Rose will be retiring from the industry and moving with his family to PEI. Eric has spent many years working with Contrans and we can say enough about what a stand up guy Eric is and his support and dedication to the company. Eric will transition out of the organization by the end of June.
Mitch Wagstaffe will transfer back to the US Division in Hagersville and Jayne McGrath will transfer to the Maintenance Department in Guelph. Peter Grazier will continue to work with Mark Jacobi on the OD side of the business and report directly to Steve Brookshaw.
OD Division in Brantford will be redirected into current business units.
Mark Jacobi will continue in Brantford as the Operations Manager for our local OD business. The drivers that will be working for Mark are Jim Maxner (0170120), Steve Humphrey (017021), Dale Cheney (017900), Mike Cheslock (6102090) and Dean McEathron (013456). Mark and his drivers will report into our Local Steel Division in Hagersville and Heather Devins will become their Fleet Manager and assist Mark Jacobi with the dispatching of those drivers. Brian Busch (018017) will report directly to Heather Devins on a daily basis.
The following drivers will be moving to the Domestic Division reporting to Brad Glassford: Curt Elliot (013453), Doug Frost (610204), Kyle Clark (017019), Brad Bacher (610305), Matt McCarroll (013410) and Dave Ralf (610205). Dan Stam (610203) will report into our US Division on the highway board and will be available for OD work when required.
Larry Graves will be new to our organization as of May 1st, 2014. Larry will become the Operations Manager for our Local Steel Division. Larry has 25+ years working for US Steel and we look forward to him bringing his internal knowledge of the steel industry to Contrans. Larry will work side by side with Andrew, Ted and Gerri and be able to provide them with support and relief managing this busy division.
Clive Sawh and the North Bay drivers are now part of our Guelph division. They consistently do the same type of work so it makes sense that they are a part of this business unit. Jodi Nagy will transfer to Guelph within the new few weeks to replace Sylvain who left to move back to PQ. Jodi and Clive will provide years of experience and knowledge and also help us link both the Guelph and Hagersville/Mississauga domestic businesses.
Lauren Lint will replace Jodi Nagy in the domestic business and Dale Benner will also transfer to the domestic business both operating in the role of dispatcher. All of the Mississauga and Hagersville drivers will be dispatched by Lauren and Dale.
We look forward to these changes and feel these changes will make our organization stronger. Again, obviously there is more detail around these changes but I leave the managers to properly communicate to you the specifics of these changes and how they make or make not impact you.
I thank everyone for your cooperation as we transition through these changes and please do not hesitate to ask questions if you have them.
Happy Birthday Clive! Wishing you a fantastic day!
Some of you may already be aware, but Cyril Poirier passed away on Friday March 14. Cyril was a long time employee with Contrans Flatbed Group - 26 years in total. He began as a driver for Hopefield, and then moved to oversee the CertainTeed shunt crews in both Oakville and Mississauga. We will miss his good nature and his willingness to always help a fellow driver.
Please see below for Cyril's obituary.
It is with sadness the family of Cyril Poirier, announce his passing on Friday March 14, 2014, at the age of 62. Loving husband of Diane. Loving Dad of Sheila, Walter, Mark and his wife Traci. Proud Papa of Alyssa and Geri-Lee. Son of Arthur and the late Alice Poirier. Brother of Brenda (Mike) Zammit, Maureen (Daniel) Aucoin and the late Danny. Cyril will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, friends and family. A special thank you to Dr Maingi for his care and compassion.
Happy Birthday Lisa! We hope you had a great day yesterday!
We'd like to extend a warm welcome to Al Bonham and Jon Baker who have completed driver orientation this week. Al will be working with our local steel group and Jon will be running OD. Welcome guys!
Starting tonight, some of our drivers and shop staff will be participating in a local hockey tournament. Puck drops on the first game at 9pm at the Cayuga arena if anyone is interested in coming out to support the guys.
